IBM and Austin: Partners in a "Smarter Planet"

Brad McCredie, IBMTony Befi, IBM

What makes a "Smarter Planet?" With its patent strength, research capabilities, and hardware and software expertise, IBM's Austin site plays a leadership role in making the world better through "smarter" applications. IBM Austin has a diverse pool of talent and continues to set an example of leadership, innovation and mentorship across the greater Austin community. The IBM Austin site has led the larger company for seven consecutive years in patents awarded. In addition, Austin is home to IBM's Power family of microprocessors and its Unix server development. Two of IBM Austin's leaders, Brad McCredie and Tony Befi, will share how IBM Austin is developing smarter systems for meaningful change and will describe the company's view of how technology is addressing major infrastructure issues. Brad McCredie, vice president and IBM Fellow, is responsible for the Power 7 server development process. Tony Befi is vice president of Power Systems & Storage Program Management.
