"World Community Grid"

Recently named an IBM Master Inventor, he is working on the “World Community Grid,” a philanthropic project using extra space on PCs worldwide to accelerate research toward solving global human and health issues.

Mr. Berstis earned his Master of Science degree from the University of Michigan. He took eight years of piano lessons during grade school and continued studies on his own. He has competed in three prior Cliburn amateur competitions and lists 3D photography, radio controlled airplanes, electronics, and woodworking among his many hobbies.
