Here’s What Happened at Artificial Intelligence: How Machine Learning Will Transform (Almost) Everything
Thank you to everyone who attended our event at the Central Austin Library, to our speakers, Dr. Jay Boisseau of Vizias and Dell EMC and Jeff Kirk of Dell EMC.

Top 5 Takeaways
1. From Alexa to credit card fraud detection, artificial intelligence (AI) is already playing a role in everyday life for many people – but general purpose, human level AI is still a long way off.
2. Machine learning is currently the dominant branch of AI. It uses data to build and train models which can made assessments, judgments, and predictions.
3. Neural networks are old news. Think neuro-evolution: software that seeks to develop the means of evolving neural networks through evolutionary algorithms.
4. Austin has some great companies working on AI, including Spark Cognition, Cognitive Scale, BitFusion and others – check them out!
5. Want to get started?

drones | Austin Forum
Drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), have gained popularity among hobbyists, but they have been used for other applications for many years. In addition to surveillance and defense applications, drones are now being used for consumer and business applications ranging from photography to delivery, from surveying to security monitoring, from facilities monitoring to precision agriculture.
As drones integrate better cameras and sensors and utilizing ‘smarter’ control systems, including AI-enabled flight decisions and object classification, the uses will continue to rise. Will it become common to see drones in our skies delivering packages, providing security, supporting aid efforts, and more? Come find out the present state and future of drones, and how you can get engaged in this technology capability.
