We are all familiar with social media’s capabilities for connecting and informing people, but also the negative effects that many believe are influencing our minds, culture, and democracies. These effects run far deeper than what lies on the surface and have implications that have and will continue to change society as we know it. With profit as the motivator, large tech companies have driven us to extreme opinions, actions, and polarities via the algorithm. During this online event, we will discuss Max Fisher’s book, “The Chaos Machine: The Inside Story of How Social Media Rewired Our Minds and the World," his findings, and how we can alter the course we’re on.

Join us for a lively conversation moderated by Mike Ignatowski, Senior Fellow at AMD and Austin Forum Advisory Board member. Read the book (or a summary), or just come listen to those who have, but above all come prepared to discuss the current effects of social media, how the tech titans play into it, how we can disrupt the space, and what the future holds for us in this new paradigm of social media.
