with Chelsea Collier Digi.City Rob Silverberg Dell Technologies 6:00pm Log In 6:15pm -7:15pm Presentation 7:15-8:00pm Q&A |
The relentless advances in processing power and shrinkage in cost of computing, the maturation of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics, and the emergence of 5G communications are about to lead to a transformation of the places in which we work, learn, play, and live.
The concept of ‘smart cities’ is not new, but the technologies are finally maturing and converging such that in this decade we will see smart buildings, place, communities, and even entire smart cities emerge. Such smart places, communities and cities will not only be more sustainable and resilient, safer, and more mobile; they will even promote health, development, and equity. Join us as Chelsea Collier of Digi.City and Rob Silverberg of Dell Technologies explain: why ‘smart’ communities and cities will transform lives for everyone; how the technologies will come together and transform environments, infrastructure and services; and why this will lead to increase quality of life and equitable outcomes for all—if we do our parts and enact these changes responsibility and ethically. We welcome your participation! Please email us with your questions, answers and prognostications in advance.
Admission to the Austin Forum is always free. The Austin Forum accepts donations of used smart phones, tablets, and computers at all our events. Since the events are no online, please let us know via the ‘chat’ window during the event if you have devices to donate. All devices will have a factory reset and be set up as new by the team at Austin Pathways’ nationally-recognized “Unlocking the Connection” initiative, which will connect every public housing resident with a digital device, digital literacy, and a free or very low-cost internet connection. Your donated devices can change lives and help close Austin’s digital divide, thanks to Austin Pathways. |
